Black Sheep Advisory was founded with a focus on serving small and medium-sized family enterprises, especially those focused on their communities in urban and rural America – from the recognition that these families were simply not being served by the larger advisory firms based on the coasts of the United States. 

 

In spite of these family enterprises’ representing a vast amount of resources propelling economies and investing in communities throughout the country, the resources available to these enterprises and the families behind them were limited. 

 

While larger advisory firms and consultant groups focus increasingly focus on a smaller and smaller number of extremely large family enterprises and the legacy philanthropic institutions of these families, small and medium-sized family enterprises and those particularly in middle American cities and in rural communities and their advisors have more limited access to top-quality expertise on the transition of leadership of family enterprises from one generation to the next, on fostering shared leadership of business ventures across families, and the growing interest of families to lead their business and philanthropic ventures to have the greatest positive social impact possible.  Black Sheep Advisory was founded to provide this expertise to small and medium-sized family enterprises across urban and rural America.
